| 4th Congress of Vietnam Shipping Agency & Brokering Association On November 21, 2008 at Equatorial Hotel, Vietnam Shipping
Agency & Brokering Association (VISABA) held the 4th tenure congress with
the participation of the guests from some Ministries, Customs Department, Border
Guard High Command , from related association as VPA (seaport), Ship-owners,
VIFFAS (logistics), experts, reporters and all members.
The Congress reviewed reports about
activities in the past 4 years and new directions for the next 4 years. It also
listened to speeches and hearty comment for the industry development. Gemadept’s
speech was highly evaluated. The Congress has unanimously passed the resolution
to amend the Charter; to enlarge the list of members; to maintain
the agency tariff in current situation due to the world economic crisis; to
study and suggest the change of the tariff at an appropriate time and agree to
renew the association annual membership fee.
In order to manage and deploy the
new assignment of VISABA in the upcoming period, the Congress has elected the
new executive committee, being composed of Mr.Tran Dung Khang- Vosa General
Director as Chairman of Visaba; Mr.Ha Cam Khai as Vice Chairman and General
Secretary; Mr.Pham Quoc Long-Gemadept Corp as Vice Chairman together with other
6 members of the committee. The new Committee has set up 3 functional
sub-committees and invited Mr. Vu Ninh (Gemadept) to be the Deputy General
Secretary to assist in association activities.
In the situation of complicated
movements of the Shipping industry, opportunities and challenges of Vietnam
after joining WTO, the important changes of Visaba are key factors to
target being a strong association, having strong opinion in related important
matters and going side by side with its members in the new stage. |
